Yes, this Chromebook automatically connects to Google Docs, and Google Docs can be saved as Microsoft Word files. You could also try saving Microsoft Office to an external drive and type using the Chromebook. So I would say yes, it can allow you to save and edit Word files and email them or upload them easily.
