You would need to install a Linux shell or use cloud based development, for example. This Chromebook might be alright for learning but with more advanced coding and large datasets, the local processing is not ideal. Again, developing in a cloud based solution might help with that. I recommend you Google this question to see what solutions others have implemented to see if those will meet your needs.
