A:AnswerThe 2018 model comes with Android 8.0 right out of the box. AT&T is usually one of the LAST carries to roll out updates, but the life cycle usually means it SHOULD get at least one OS update. You can expect the usual security updates to come out once every month or so. It does still come with the micro SD slot as well, for upgraded storage.
Hope that helps.
A:AnswerWe bought this for my husband who was also embarking on his first smart phone journey, leaving his trusted flip phone behind. It helped that he'd done a few things on my iPad and understood basics. It's been a little bit of a learning curve but not too bad.
A:AnswerI believe it was, however, if AT & T is your carrier, the phone was only $100 on a monthly installment plan. $4.99 for 24 months, $3.99 for 36 months, I think.
A:AnswerSort of. You pay installments, but after several months part of your monthly charge is applied to the balance on the phone. I just bought the phone and plan, so it's unclear how this would work out.
A:AnswerGPS and google maps seem to work fine. Doing anything else while GPS is going bogs down the phone.
The camera is only 8MP, and beyond that there are some issues with the auto focus and a delay between focus and picture capturing that can be frustrating.
A:AnswerNo this phone will not work on T-mobile. This is the AT&T locked device. If you would like to buy it unlocked you will actually save some money. I "recommended" the unlocked version below.
