Since the tablet is not a phone, I'm not sure I understand the question. The tab works from Wi-Fi or data connection. I can Google Duo with mine and do everything else you can do with a computer (email, FB, games, browse internet, etc.). I've been using a Tab A for the past four years and decided to buy a new one because it was on sale at a terrific price.. Love the new one, the screen is actually larger, but I use them both. I read in bed, using the Kindle app because I don't like wearing glasses in bed and the app allows me to select really large font size. I read a lot of reviews from people had problems with the Tab A but I've had no issues with either of mine. Perhaps you can ask a "techie" person about the Verizon account. Again, the Tablet is not a phone...
