• The pen does not need to be charged. I can’t give you my oppinion on the tablet because it was a gift for my wife. I can tell you that she loves it. I am an apple guy but she loves samsung.

• No the s pen doesn't have to be charged. I just put mine in holder beside tabletand charge it. I hadn't considered it but it probably has some battery and you will have to replace later, $40.00 for new one.
