Some of the models have the feature where you can add the data to the phone where you won't need the phone anywhere around! The other models yeah the phone does need to be around. However, the range is fairly far!

Now with the other version the 4G LTE version you do not have to even have your phone with you, you can leave your phone at home and do any and everything with your watch that your phone does, awesome.
