• Yes if it's running off just BT but if it's activated like a phone then you can leave your phone at home

• No you do not. It will resync with your phone once the watch connects back to the phone. Vis versa, if you forget to wear your watch but have your phone on you. Once the two objects sync, your watch will then show you how many steps your phone counted.
