It does and doesn't at the same time. The Apple Watch has motion sensors witch detect if you are moving more then whilst being seated. So if u were to be working out it will take ur hart hate in intervals ( also while you are in workout mode) but it does if it deters motion. I hope that answered ur question. I will also say if the hart rain sensor was on all the time your battery wold never last all day.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.HR is monitored all day. You don't get a real time chart, but it has a moving average for HR and calories that does track all day. If you go for a walk or exercise, you can change to that mode and more data is gathered to track more detailed information. Each day I get running calories. If I don't wear it all day, then it puts in what resting calories would be for that gap in time. It does need to be charged, so they've probably accounted for that. You can get more detailed data on the web app from Microsoft to see daily, weekly, monthly analysis. As a bonus you get heads up on emails, phone calls, and texts.
