Mine is set up to turn my lights and TV on as soon as I'm near my house, a motion sensor could also do that but only if you enter from a specific point. But the motion sensor can be anywhere inside for different things, where the arrival sensor can only trigger once when you first get near the house or leave. Basically they're both for 2 different purposes
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The Presence Sensor is something you keep with you, like on a keychain. It tells your hub if it's nearby or not. My use is, for example: My phone and my fiance's phone act as "Presence Sensors". If they are near the house, my motion sensors and door alarms are disabled. When the phones leave, it arms the alarms. I have a Presence Sensor I give to my dog sitter when I'm out of town (so I don't have to configure their phone to work with my hub). First, it lets me know that my dog sitter made it to the house, and when the hub detects it, it disarms the alarms. When the sensor leaves, it arms the alarm. A motion sensor just tells me there is motion somewhere, but not who or what created the motion. Hope that makes sense!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Motion sensor is much more reliable, but the two devices have different functions as listed in description
