So I have had multiple Samsung smartthings products and have had them for almost a year. The motion sensors and arrival sensors have both been problematic to say the least. I am on my second set of arrival sensors that were replaced under warranty. This one is also showing extreme battery drain. These are a complete waste of money unless you want to spend 6 bucks a piece on batteries every week. Battery drain so severe that on Friday had 100% and now sunday is at 15% . I have had similar problems with all other Samsung smartthings products. Don't invest in these products at best a convenient toy at worst a troubleshooting nightmare with Samsung. At this point I have spent more time trying to make it work than time spent saved with automation.
A few other points, I have multiple zigbee /z wave repeaters. I have over a dozen other smart devices bulbs, switches, and plugs. All other brands I have do work without issues.

Dependent on what you're using it for...

This was easily paired with the Smartthings hub and function is what I expected. The issue is that my use case was to use these to automatically disarm and arm the alarm devices. It works great for arming when everyone leaves but they are slow to show presence when arriving home. Open the garage, pull in and park, walk in the house...alarm sirens activate. From our experience it takes about a minute or 2 to show presence which is a bit of a problem. We're dealing with it and it isn't a deal breaker considering the convenience but we are intentionally slow to enter the house after arriving home to allow the Smartthings hub to notice the arrival of the sensor. It is, however, much more reliable than using your phone as a presence sensor.

Great little arrival sensor for limited access

These are great, small little arrival sensors that pair easily with a SmartThings Hub (not sure about Wink but I'd imagine they pair easily). I use them for my son's backpack and have given one to extended family members that I prefer not to have full access to my HA system. These are programmed to open the garage door and (if after sunset) turn on the foyer and hallway lights. They also let me know via text when they've arrived at the house, always good to know :-). Occasionally one of them seems to run into interference with the wifi when it's at a remote corner of the house and it will take a spell of cycling through notifying me that it's arrived then departed then arrived again. Move it closer to the hub and the problem's solved.

I read many negative reviews about the effectiveness of this presence sensor but have found it to be very reliable in my application. I leave the sensor in my car and automation rules have been running very consistently for me. Sensor presence is detected right when I get out of the car which is perfect for me. I do have zwave bulbs & outlets in garage at near the front door so I think it helps with presence sensor detection. Still not sure how good/bad battery life is but will be monitoring it.

These little guys work really well, I have it setup to notify us when either myself or my girlfriend get home. The range is pretty exceptional, we're on the 3rd floor and it triggers about 200 ft or so away on the first floor. Not sure what the battery life will be, been about 2 months and they are at 75% now.

This sensor works great in the car to detect coming and going. The batteries don't last as long as I would like (about 6 months), and I wish there was an option to connect these to larger cells. And the circuit board inside has a tenancy to pop out while changing the battery. Either way, this is a rather reliable presence sensor.

The arrival sensor is very versatile when trying to keep track of family members on their arrival and departure from your home - you can set up rules to have lights, thermostats and other devices switch on and off with the arrival and departure of certain people or items - again very easy to setup.

We've always had trouble with using the location device for presence detection. Sometimes it detects and sometimes not. This one hasn't failed to detect properly yet. We can count on it to activate our routines reliably.

It’s a little bit of a challenge to set up but I had fun doing so. phone support is excellent. Start simple at first to get familiar with how to use it. To be sure It would work in the range I expected I also purchased the AC Outlet / Range extender and placed it at the end of the house sway from the Smart Thing bridge.
The range is impressive and it works just fine. If it’s dark out, as I drive up the street to my house, the outside porch light comes on. Oh yes, I forgot to mention I have a smart GE switch controlling the porch light.

I bought this to open the garage door when my wife arrives home. If I use her cell phone then every time she returns home the garage door opens even if we are just out for a walk or I drive my car. I bought this to put in her car so it open the garage door when the car arrives home. My only issue is sometimes it is a little slow responding and the door does not open instantly but it usually opens when she is pulling into the driveway. I also have it text me when the door opens so if for some reason it has a false return and opens the door I will know about it. So far I have had no false returns.

You need Zigbee repeaters

All the poor reviews are from people that do not have sufficient Zigbee repeaters (and not Z-wave repeaters). The smartthings hub and power outlet switch are the only official smartthings Zigbee repeaters, and the outlet switches are expensive ($60) to cover a large home. Turns out the OEM version of the outlet can be purchased from Lowes under the Iris brand. They look identical because they were probably made by the same company. If you go to the smartthings forum you can download the custom device profile to enable it as a smartthings outlet. It can be had for about $25-35 depending on available sales. I have covered my home with 3 outlet switches (to form a large triangle), and since then I have no connection problems with the arrival sensor. Battery life has also been extended because the connection problems are gone.

I set the device to mark me a "left the home" at 2 minutes and it works. Sometimes however the device will not notice that you have returned home. Only happened once or twice. Also the battery life is not great.

The arrival sensor is more reliable than a smartphone at preventing false alarms. My major complaint is that the battery life is very poor. That is something to weigh before purchasing the sensor.

Almost every smart things product i have purchased has depleted batteries. If you buy, make sure you replace with fresh new batteries immediately in order to avoid issue. The product itself works great as advertised. We use it for our dog sitter to automatically disable alarms when she arrives at house.

It is very easy to set up with SmartThings hub v2 and serves the intended purpose. You need to have several Zigbee repeaters for staying connected. The only drawback is that life of the battery is not very long. I would recommend it if you are willing to replace the battery frequently.

I purchased this to add to my small dog's collar (she's 10lbs). I have it configured to send me a text message if she gets too far from the house. My only complaint is that it could have been a smaller device. When I opened it to look at the battery, there was extra space the manufacture could have removed to make it smaller. That being said, my small dog doesn't mind it on her collar and it gives me a piece of mind when I let her outside.
