You can control it from anywhere. It works over the internet. And you can control it from your cellphone.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. The setup of the HUB and the pairing of the device can be done from anywhere, but someone will need to phyically be in the home to plug it in and help with the first pairing. The outle and other sensors need to be within short range for the first pairing.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. It is my understanding that you can control it from anywhere you have an internet connection. It will require a smart things hub or othet compatible hub in the house where the smart plug is. The Smart hub requires an internet connection to operate. You will also need the smart things or other hub app on your smartphone or tablet.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. This outlet needs to have a smartthings hub as well as wifi. It is not a stand alone unit. If you have the hub and wifi and get it set up you will then be able to operate it remotely from another state.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You need the smartthings hub at the site so that it can see the device from zigbee or zwave radio signals. These devices need to be paired to the hub at site. The hub also needs to be connected to the internet so u can manage the hub and the devices such as this connected to it. There are starter kits to get u rolling with basic stuff. The hub last I saw was $79 plus this sensor. If u are managing the house remotely this might be the ideal if u can meet the following; Internet connection at remote house Fios, Comcast, etc... Power for wifi and smartthings hub Battery powered Devices u will connect on smartthings hubs could include sensors for temperature,smoke/co2, power, door, water, cameras to name a few Smartthings is the most flexible and the least costly requires creating account but doesn't charge you for using online services. Can send email, text and remote access hub from smartphone or computer. With people squatting on homes these days it might be a wise investment to immediately detect when someone breaks in, water leak, fire, thermostat settings to name a few.
