A:AnswerHello
I don't think that mounting the player vertically would be a good idea. There are no mounting slots for screws on it and the disc drawer my not function properly.
A:AnswerMy understanding It's 4K Player. It will do HD Up-Scaling when need it. Here are the specifications:

A:AnswerHello
Yes, this is a better player and a little more expensive. I have both model players (the 9700 in the living room and the 9500 in the bedroom) and I am very well pleased with both model players. The 9700 has a few more features and I purchased it more recently. I have always been well pleased with Samsung products ( I also own three of their tv's).
I hope this information has been helpful.
A:AnswerNo it won't Federal and International laws prohibit this. Also here is an extract from the user manual.
Both products and discs are coded by region.
These regional codes must match for a disc to
play. If the codes do not match, the disc will not
play.
The region number for this product is displayed on
the rear panel of the product.
