On most recent Macs you'll have to buy an adaptor or a cable. I bought a Thunderbolt to DisplayPort to get the max my Mac would support (2560x1440 - higher than I get on Thunderbolt to HDMI - which only gives 1080p), but yes, to do either, you need an adaptor or cable that doesn't come in the box. On the 2016 Mac Notebooks you'll need a different cable to make the hookup to the Displayport Input.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have connected the display to both 2014 and 2016 MacBook Pros. As long as the graphics card can produce the 4k output and you have either HDMI or (mini) DisplayPort outputs, you should be able to drive the monitor. (Note that an HDMI output will likely be at 30Hz but that is not an issue for normal computer use.)
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes to both
