Class rating is the Minimum guaranteed write speed provided by a SD card. Class 2 cards provide minimum write speed of 2 MB/sec and Class 4 card provides minimum write speed of 4 MB/sec. Class 4 cards is the minimum speed required specially for HD video recording. You can check the suggested card for your camera from the SanDisk compatibility tool on this link - http://pct1.sandisk.com/NewSearch.aspx
Sorry, there was a problem. If you are shooting something like an auto race where you are taking many, many photos very very fast (burst mode), and you are shooting in RAW, then this rating is important and the bigger the class number, the faster your card will be. (And, of course, the more expensive!) Honestly, 99 percent of the time, you likely wouldn't be able to tell the difference between a 2 and a 4. I have Class 4 and Class 6 cards for my DSLR, and a Class 2 for my little point-and-shoot I carry in my purse. Now, if you are shooting video, you would want a Class 10, but I don't do video so I don't know any more than that.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Yes, the Class 4 is faster. But your device will only be faster if it is capable of handling a Class 4 card. So I recommend checking your device manual or with device manufacturer before buying a faster card.
