Your IPad Pro needs to be on IPad OS or iOS13 for it to recognize the usb drive.

Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I don’t think you can plug it directly in and use as storage or data transfer. You need a hub. Something like the HyperDrive hub or one from Satechi. When iOS 13 comes out in the fall, you should be able to do it without any additional peripherals.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Flash drives will not be supported on iPad Pro UNTIL this September with the new iPadOS/iOS 13 update. Generally the updates come out 2nd/3rd week of September. Why they didn’t have this from the start with the new iPad Pro when it came out this past fall? Not sure, BUT at least they’re making up for it now & unleashing a slew of new features for it. I bought mine ahead of time for this update, PLUS on sale & with rewards certificates.
