“Protrusion? I would like to mount the tv over a fireplace in a pretty small room. When everything is in the least extended position, how far does the tv stick out from the wall? Does it dominate the space, or is it smooth and compact? Thanks!”

6.5 inches from wall to front of TV. Not too invasive. When there are limited places available to mount it is well worth the convenience of having it up off a TV stand/cabinet and the flexibility to move the TV and tilt it.

Depending on the thickness of your tv, (mine is relatively thick) all in all its about 2.5 inches from the wall. I was concerned about the same issue but I love the product and it looks great on the wall.
