• It is recording sound when plugged in, but you have to remove it to hear playback. That is a quirk of iOS when using Lighting microphones. To test: Plug in the mic and open the camera, or recording app, then record a short test recording. Pull out the mic to hear playback. I guarentee it will work perfectly for you.
