Can the top shelf, and legs for it, be left off? null

It's been awhile since I purchased this and I had Geek Squad assemble it. I guess you could leave them off but you would have the pre-drilled holes in the top showing. There would also be the pre-drilled holes in the bottom but they wouldn't show. Good luck. It is really a nice looking piece.
