The blue light is an LED so like the LED light bulbs that give you 60 watts of light but only use 4 watts of power, the power drain is very very minimal. I have a pickup that I drive 3-4 times a week and let the light burn with no issue. If you were going to let the car set a month then I would unplug it.

If your accessory circuit is wired to be on all the time like in older vehicles, then the light will stay lit. If your car is frequently driven, then the light being lit all the time should not be of concern. It draws very little current.

I'm sure it is "draining" your battery. To what degree and how much, I couldn't tell you. I wouldn't think it is using up to my power, but I would see if I could exchange it and see if it continues to happen with a new one.
