• It should work fine with older or newer versions of Macs with a Journal partition on it, X86 or x64.

• Yes! Any hard drive with a SATA connection will work. Any hard drive will work with any computer. When installing a new hard drive, I would recommend booting up and going right into your storage devices to format it. Performing a fresh install of OS X will prompt you to format the new drive as well if trying to install to it.
