This is the first external drive I've had, and I'm kicking myself for not getting one earlier. The included Seagate software makes backups painfree. It's been very simple to use and meets all my backup needs.

For those who like to install a hard drive quickly and with relative ease, this is the drive for you!

I got this to replace failed Hard Drive. The price was fair. installation was a lot easier than I thought.it would be. It has been about a month now and no problems. This is a good Hard Drive. highly recomend.

Hard drives are either good or bad. They work, or they don't. This is a drive that works, and it works fast. I use SSDs for the operating system and hard drives like this one for data storage, especially media streaming. I expect a drive that will stream media without hesitation or stuttering, hence my desire for a high performing drive. Also important are power consumption, heat and noise. I use a product called WindowSMART 2015 which monitors the health of all my drives, including temperature. Drives that run hot are prone to premature failure, and I am pleased to report this drive runs fast and runs cool. This translates into a computer's fans (cooling system) not having to work as hard, thereby reducing overall power consumption.

If you're looking for an inexpensive, spacious and reliable drive, this Seagate is a fine choice. It's not as fast as a solid state drive, or the Seagate Baracuda series, but at 7200 RPM, a 64 MB cache and a SATA interface, this drive is plenty fast enough for most users. And it's hard to beat the price per TB, especially if you buy it when it's on sale (which is quite often).

A very easy installation as well as being super fast My old drive died and I found this one to be a great price especially for the amount of space. I'm not a novice at computers but even for those who are the installation is easy and having to reload windows will be faster than you could even imagine.

Great price for the size of the drive. It installed easily into my computer and I have had no issues. I will be splitting the drive into multiple partitions for the load of different OS's. I am thinking about going back and getting another drive so I can run virtual machines on them both. Allot of space for the price.

i purchased this drive to use as an external back-up device since I already had the SATA external enclosure. this drive was easy to install onto the external enclosure board and into the case. it is fast and quiet when I copy data from my computer or laptop onto it. I now have lots of space to back up my files.

I am an IT support vendor for several small and medium sized post-production companies in the Hollywood area. I bought the drives to migrate a client from OS X Lion & Avid Media Composer 6 to OS X Mavericks & Avid Media Composer 7. I chose the Seagate 1 TB drives for their 64 MB cache size (more is better), 7200 RPM speed (faster is better), high reliability, and a sale price that was nice, too! I did this upgrade three months ago and everything has been rock solid ever since, which is really important since my clients tend to run everything at least 15 hours a day and at least 6 days a week. I would recommend these drives as "Boot" drives for Windows 7 & up, or OS X use from Lion & up. These will be solid in a "regular office" environment, too.

I saw these on sale on BB website, I bought three and configured in a RAID 0 set up for HD video scratch, and all my media files. Striping three drives can give you over twice the speed of two. These went in a MacPro. I plugged all three in, powered up, configure HD screen popped up, picked my configuration, and in ten seconds I had a new (2,999,582,195,712 Byte) HDD that is so, so fast. The drawback to a RAID 0 set up is the fact that if one HDD fails, you lose everything, but back up is on the way once the 2TB externals drop a bit in price.

I have installed or swapped many hard drives. These new ones have so much storage and are relatively inexpensive and soooooo easy to install and set up!

I use these drives in a lot of my new PC builds. Never had an issue within the warranty period with Seagate recently. A few years back, they weren't as good. Now Seagate makes one of the most reliable drives on the market. Pricing isn't bad either in comparison to online retailers. With Best Buy continuing this trend toward competing with online pricing, I am more compelled to buy locally to avoid shipping time.

The hard drive in my wife's Computer was dying, had many errors, and making noise. I purchased this Seagate - 1TB Internal Serial ATA Hard Drive for Desktops, on sale at Best Buy at a very good price. I used a program similar to Norton Ghost, and copied her old hard drive onto this new one. Then I ran a couple of scan and fix programs, such as sfc, chksk, and another one. This hard drive works great, very quick, quiet, and larger than the previous hard drive in her computer.

I purchased this drive because the one in my HP Z series workstation was giving me Raw Read Errors which is a great indicator of a drive failure. I installed the drive as a second drive and I used the Seagate Disk Wizard, which you can download from their website, to clone the failing drive to this one. I installed the cloned drive as the primary and my workstation booted up to Win 7 with all my files and programs intact. For $50 some dollars it is a bargain.

Right in the middle of a project recently, my desktop hard drive started to act up. It wasn't completely dead, but it definitely was having some issues. So I jumped over to the Best Buy website and saw that this model was on sale. Added it to my cart and walked over to my closest location to pick it up. Great price for this much storage...helped by the fact that it was just down the street. Installation took less than 15 minutes, and I was able to restore a back up to the drive quickly. This drive is exceptionally quiet, and access times seem pretty quick to me (though I am no expert...my benchmark is as simple as: if I'm not waiting for something to happen, it's fast enough for me). Bottom line: if you need a good amount of storage that's easy to install, functions exactly like it should, and you can do the install yourself, go for this one.
