While I have not done it with this model.... I would. The spec says 500 GB 7200 rpm SATA, 1 TB and 2 TB will work. This drive is capable of faster transfer, but should work without issues.

This drive has a connection for power management to control fan speed in your iMac if you forget to hook this connection up your fan will be louder and it will drive you nuts like it did to me.
