“Use Seagate Slim as start up drive since my internal HD is failing? Internal HD on my MacBook Pro is failing (info from Disk Utility, confirmed by SMART utility). I can't part with the MBP long enough for a replacement of the internal HD until I finish some major stuff the next week or so. (I do have Time Machine backups so I'm not worried about the whole internal HD failing and losing my files. ) If I buy an external HD such as this one, can I put my OS, apps, etc on it and use it as the start up drive, and just ignore the internal HD? If I do that, what's the most efficient/quickest way to copy everything? And should I get one with a faster connection than USB?”
