“Seagate Slim for Mac 500GB. I bought a Seagate Slim for Mac 500GB. It has worked fine. However, this morning I was unable to load it. My computer does not recognize it and the light does not turn on although you can hear the hard drive humming. What to do?”

• Just unplug both ends of the USB cable, then plug it back in. Oxidation happens. Cycling the plugs scrapes it off.

• It sounds to me like the drive is damaged. I would contact Seagate support.

• Reboot your Mac with the slim drive attached. If that doesn't work then shut it down, unplug the slim drive, start up your Mac. Plug back in. One of these methods should work.
