I plugged a USB drive into the usb port where the power and ethernet connections are and I can see it if I connect remotely. I don't see it when I connect to the sea gate drive when I look for it when I'm on my home computer

Outside of the occasional USB problem reading drives through a hub, which shouldn't be an issue on most current computers, you need to consider: 1) Power. If your drives are plugged into a power source other than the hub, that will work better. This drive is not able to be plugged into a wall, but your others might. If your hub is plugged into the wall to get its power to distribute to the drives from a wall socket rather than the USB port on the computer, that will work better. Get a hub with at least 4 amps of power. Finally, are you using USB3? If not, the port will definitely have more of an issue with power as well as speed. 2) Speed. If the drives are typically working one at a time, you'll probably be fine, but if you are transferring data from 1 drive to another, or playing a movie on 1 drive while backing up to another drive, the performance will be lower since they will all be working through the same USB port.
