A:AnswerThe on/off switch on this vacuum enables the unit to be operated with or without the beater brush in motion.
On a vinyl flooring, you would operate the vacuum with the on/off switch in the first position, which is without beater brush action.
The suction of this vacuum is powerful.
A:AnswerHello workingmom,
We are happy to confirm that the Shark Navigator® Lift-Away® Bagless Upright Vacuum is great for high pile carpet and shag area rugs. This great vacuum has a suction release valve so you can control the suction if you find it difficult to maneuver the vacuum.
We hope this information helps.

A:AnswerThe manual you can take apart the top areas for the fllters, cleaning however, no where do I see Shark showing disassy of the floor rotating brush housing.
After looking at the unit, there are 4 screws on the bottom of the housing. This is plenty of room to cut grab and remove the stringy stuff that the brush collects over time.
A:AnswerDetach the hose on the motorized floor brush at the top by squeezing the tabs together and pulling out, and at the bottom by pulling out the connector. This will allow access for unclogging debris in the brush. If you need to actually remove the brush, this requires more complex maintenance procedures which are not intended for the user to do.
