It takes a 3D blu-ray movie, 3D glasses, and a 3D blu-ray player to watch in 3D. Otherwise you are always in 2D mode. I have found that you can hit the 3D button on the remote and watch anything in 3D with the 3D glasses on. Sweet!

Great question! The LC60LE835U Sharp Television can display standard 2D as well as 3D programming. You do not have to watch programs in 3D, even if someone is already watching 3D programming. The Sharp 3D glasses have a unique feature which will display 2D while 3D programming is in use. 3D display can also be turned off entirely if you wish.
