- Answer Chris, all SimpliSafe packages have a Base Station, which is the brain the system. It also has a siren built in. If you need a more powerful siren, or would like to have it in another room, look out for our packages with an extra Wireless Siren.

- Answer Yes, just press home in control pannel. The motion is disabled but the doors will be active. You can also use the key fob panic button if home invasion.

- Answer Placement depends on your need. The outside leading doors for sure and any low windows with easy access. The motion censor should go in the main access area center to cover the most area.

- Answer Hi Jim, Thanks for all these great questions! Just in case that consultant wasn't able to answer for you: SimpliSafe's Entry Sensors work by detecting a magnet, so placing it on top of a steel or iron door might affect its function. But as long as it's shielded, it should work as intended. Also, all of the sensors for this system (the SimpliSafe Original) can operate up to 400ft away in an open field, though in a real world environment we would recommend that you keep them within 100-150ft of the Base Station. Finally, the Sensors all have an expected battery life of 3-5 years!

QuestionWill I get active alarms via cell phone ap without the monitoring service?

- Answer Yes but there is a lag. Say somehow someone opens the door. By the time the camera starts recording and you get the alarm on your phone the person is no longer in the viewing area. I have tested numerous times and have yet to get an quick clip of the person walking in the door (I've been testing with my wife).

- Answer No. When you buy the product outright and install yourself you have nothing to pay monthly rent on. The monthly monitoring is optional and substantially lower than other monitored systems
