Is this kit necessary for an electric dryer ? null

Of course it is required for an electric dryer. And gas dryers. Any dryer with a 4" exhaust needs a 4" duct to the outside.

I bought a new dryer. The existing connector would not fit the new one (of course!) so I had to buy a new one. It works fine.
