• Yes - this case has a magnetic edge that fastens to the side of the iPad & only covers the front screen.

• Yes, it’s perfectly normal. Smartcovers only cover the front of your tablets.

• When Apple introduced the IPad, they offered a case (protecting both the screen and the back), or a cover (protecting only the screen). The case commanded a higher price, as you would expect. After a while, Apple stopped selling the case; and marketers used both case & cover to refer to what is clearly just a cover. So it has become “normal” but it is still not correct.

• It’s normal but his particular one keeps falling off, which is not normal. Get the cover directly from Apple is my advice
