The wireless transmitter and receiver kit (BBY SKU# 6401974) is only needed if you do not want, or cannot run the subwoofer cable from your receiver to the subwoofer location. It's not required to operate the subwoofer. If you are going to purchase the wireless transmitter and receiver kit, make sure you are buying BBY SKU# 640197. We offer two versions of our Sonance wireless kits. You will need the kit with both the transmitter and receiver since the subwoofer does not have a built-in wireless receiver.

The 5.1 Premium system includes three front LCR (Left, Center, Right) speakers, two MAG6R SUR surround speakers, a wireless transmitter and receiver kit for the subwoofer, and the MS10 (10" powered sub.) The MAG5.1R has three MAG6R speakers, two MAG6R SUR surround speakers, and an 8" powered sub. Yes, this system does require an A/V receiver that can support at least a 5.1 system (5 channels of full-range audio and 1 channel for the subwoofer.) The receiver should also have at least 100-watts of power or more per channel to power the system properly. The speakers are black; however, the speaker grilles are white and are paintable. The MAG5.1 Premium comes with (3) MAG6 LCR in-wall speakers and 2 MAG6 SUR surround speakers. Each front speaker has 2 woofers and 1 tweeter versus MAG5.1R which offers (3) MAG6R round in-ceiling speakers and 2 MAG6 SUR. Each front speaker has 1 woofer and 1 tweeter. The other big difference is the MAG 5.1 Premium comes with our MS10 Subwoofer a 10" powered subwoofer that includes our wireless transmitter and receiver kit. The MAG 5.1R comes with our MS8 Subwoofer a 8" powered subwoofer.
