A:AnswerHi,
Thank you for your question. For the Sonance MAG6.1 system, we recommend using direct-burial rated speaker wire for outdoor installations. The gauge you’ll need depends on the length of the wire run:
Up to 100 ft: 16-gauge wire
100–200 ft: 14-gauge wire
Over 200 ft: 12-gauge wire
This ensures the best performance and durability outdoors.

A:AnswerHi,
Thank you for your question. The system may still function if one speaker is faulty or has wiring issues; however, we do not recommend running it until the issue is resolved, as defective or faulty wiring could damage the amplifier.

A:AnswerHi,
Thank you for your question. We recommend choosing wire size based on the distance from the amp to the furthest speaker. Here are our recommendations:
18 gauge - For distances up to 100 feet
16 gauge - For distances up to 150 feet
14 gauge - For distances up to 250 feet
As a best practice, we recommend 14/4 direct-burial speaker wire be used. I have provided a link to the MAG6.1 Instruction Manual. On page 4, we provide information on wire types, system wiring, and installation. You can paste the link below in your browser to view the manual:

A:AnswerHello,
Thank you for your question regarding the installation of the Sonance MAG6.1 Outdoor Speaker System.
When using 14/4 direct-burial speaker wire, we recommend pulling the wire from the amplifier to the furthest speaker location, but leave the wire attached to the spool. This gives you flexibility during installation, allowing you to create wire loops and make speaker connections as you work your way back toward the amplifier. It’s a best practice that helps avoid running short on wire and allows for easy adjustments along the way.

A:AnswerHi,
Thank you for your question regarding the Sonance MAG6.1 Outdoor Speaker System.
For optimal performance and long-term durability, we recommend using 14/4 direct-burial speaker wire. This wire features four conductors (14-gauge) and is specifically designed to withstand outdoor conditions, including moisture and temperature changes. It also simplifies installation by carrying both left and right channels in a single cable run.

A:AnswerHi,
Thank you for your question. The six satellite speakers in the MAG6.1 system are connected using a daisy-chain wiring configuration, alternating left and right channels along a single 4-conductor (14/4) direct-burial speaker wire. You’ll wire three speakers to the left channel and three to the right, splitting the channels across the speaker run. The subwoofer connects using all four conductors and can be placed at any point in the daisy chain, though centering it among the satellites provides the most balanced bass.
To ensure safe and reliable installation, we recommend using color-coded 14/4 direct-burial speaker wire and following the specific steps outlined in the product manual. You can also watch the full installation walkthrough in our video here:

A:AnswerHi,
Thanks for reaching out! It's not normal for your MAG6.1 system to turn off just because it rained. The speakers are designed for outdoor use and are weather-resistant. Since this happened right after installation, we recommend contacting Best Buy to inspect the system.

A:AnswerHi,
Thanks for your question! The Sonance MAG6.1 system supports flexible outdoor installations, and the distance between the amplifier and the speakers or subwoofer depends on the wire gauge you use. Here are the recommended limits:
Up to 100 feet with 18-gauge wire
Up to 150 feet with 16-gauge wire
Up to 250 feet with 14-gauge wire
For best performance, use direct burial, 4-conductor speaker wire rated for outdoor use. The subwoofer can be connected anywhere along the speaker line and performs best when placed near the center of the speaker layout.
