- Answer No. Sonos doesn’t use external remote. The regular tv remote control the volume orcthe sonos app does it all.

QuestionDoes the TV remote turn the sonos beam gen 2 off & on along with the TV? How do you choose music to stream on just the soindbar while TV is off and not using Alexa or any voice command?

- Answer The soundbar does not have an on/off switch that I know. But you don’t need it. If you’re watching tv, when turned off, the sound will go off. And for just music, I play from Spotify or any app and connect to the bar through wifi. And I use my phone for that. I think that that only works with an iPhone. But for Android, you can do that through the Sonos App.

QuestionI have a lot of Sonos around the house, but they’re all quite a bit older. The playbar is starting to go and I’d like to replace it with the beam. Will the beam play nice with all the older equipment or will there be compatibility issues?

- Answer I have 4 beams and 14 Sonos gen 2 in my house. I thought that they were going out. However, someone recommended me to go on eBay and buy a Sonos Bridge. Now there’s no buffering or delays. I would definitely try getting a bridge.

- Answer The sonos is bluetooth capable. Once you download the app in your app store, set up your sonos sound system to your preference. In the app, you can add your choice of music player and it will play through your sonos system.

QuestionWill the Beam work when I have other external speakers hooked up as well. I have two Sony external speakers and a built in surround sound connected to a receiver and I cannot get the Beam to work on my TV. What am I doing wrong?

- Answer As it turned out, i had to use the supplied adaptor and the audio output. Seemed like the Sonos product had trouble differentiating between the HDMI (arc) and the other HDMI output used for the cable service.

- Answer You'd have to identify what Sonos product you are talking about. The sound bar does not have Bluetooth, for example, while the Move does. For me, Bluetooth pairing was a breeze. But if the unit has been paired previously (you have an open box or used item), you have to do a factory reset.
