The Subs only work in conjunction with a compatible Sonos Soundbar, because of the way it communicates and sends data through Wifi.

Thanks for the question. Sonos Sub would not directly connect to either the receiver or directly to the TV. Sonos Sub only connects to a Sonos speaker. In your case, you would need to replace your receiver and speakers with a Sonos sound bar. If you only wanted to use the Sub for music playback rather than music and TV, you could but a single Sonos music speaker (One, OneSL, Five) and the Sub could connect to one of those.
