Yes, it is normal, especially when playing sound at high volumes or for long periods of time. The owner's manual cautions you to not touch the bottom/back of it after or during operation. Additionally it cautions you to keep sufficient airflow behind/under the soundbar itself to help it keep from overheating. But to answer your question, that is normal; no worries!
