I had the same problem when I bought it. Proceed as follows: connect the HTNT5 on TV and then restart the installation of the TV as if it were the first time. When I did that I was able to solve the problem. Hope that helps!
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. That would have been helpful if I hadn't already carefully followed the connection diagram already provided with the unit. The problem is that when I plug in my cable box, the ARC stops working. This happens when I plug the cable box into either the HTNT5 or the TV. I will be returning this defective unit.

As the guy said below - when hooking up the cable box audio stops - same thing happened to me! Aparantly not all the manufactures made arc the same so you can get interference when hooking up devices that hasn't been set up for it yet. I had to buy a CEC-less adapter from Amazon to block my cable box's ARC pin within the HDMI cable from interfering with the TV. I blame Time Warner's terrible cable box for that. But - I keep having issues every other day with the ARC from the tv to the soundbar to stop sending audio. I litterally have to hard reset the tv to get it up and running again. Avoid my headache and just use the digital audio cable. I never had this issue with my Vizio tv and soundbar hooked up via HDMI-Arc but it seems that Sony can't figure it out! My wife wishes we had saved money and just bought a Vizio M or P series.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later. You know, you have the exact setup that I purchased initially. The TV's HDMI (ARC) and the Sony soundbar HTNT5 would sometimes work together fine, sometimes not at all. I tried several brand-new cables to see if that was the problem - no it wasn't. It would work fine at night, and then would not work together early next morning. I thought that the HTNT5's HDMI ARC input was defective, so I returned the HTNT5, and upgraded to the Bose 300 soundbar. The Bose and the 850D TV worked fine, after giving me a few scares when it didn't work a few times.... It now works fine. You know, I think it is the TV's HDMI ARC input that somehow has a glitch. I got Geek Squad coverage for both TV and soundbar for 2 years, so I don't have to worry about it anymore.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I had problems when I had an optical connection, thinking optical was the best. After researching hi-def audio over HDMI I found it is superior and supports True HD where optical cannot pass that signal. Google audio over optical vs HDMI. Once I removed the optical connection all is good.
