Hi EddieZ, No, your BluRay player and cable box should be connected to the HT-NT5. Thanks! ^Ron
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.Late to the party here, user SonyListens, you've contradicted yourself completely. Are we plugging the components into the soundbar or into the TV? :-) Personally, I follow step 2 in your setup guide, although one loses the use of the NT5 display button with Enhanced HDMI active. https://docs.sony.com/release//QSG_4585894141.pdf
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.I have Comcast TV service and discovered if using the IR Blaster on the cable box and HDMI is plugged into sound bar, it will not allow me to use the TV remote for DVD (UBP-X800) and Sound Bar (HT-NT5). The cable box HDMI had to plug directly to my TV (X800E) and only the DVD could go into sound bar when using ARC, so that 1 remote could be used for everything. Not sure if you are having this issue but made this discovery on my own. Sony customer service was no help.
Sorry, there was a problem. Please try again later.ARC is designed where you can run all your inputs through the tv. ARC=Audio Return Channel. Therefore, to answer your question, yes :/). If you are experiencing sound volume issues, this could be related to a bad cable or a bad source. Try a Bluetooth or analog input and see if you ge the same issues.
