“I accidently registered my TV with SONY via a WIFI connection and this triggered a "software update". As a result of this update, the TV has lost it's "Smart TV" capability. Does anyone know how to reset the software back to the out of the box setting?”

Once it updates it should be fine if it's hooked up to a fast internet. I needed to hard wire it, the Wi-Fi wasn't fast enough to complete the update. Once that was done TV was fine with new apps.
