A:Answer My Best Buy InsigNia TV went kaput after 3.5 years. I went ahead and bought the 5 year warranty as many of my friends and family had problems with pixels going out in 3 to 5 years time. The customer service rep at my local best buy stated that the new led tvs are not designed to last like the old box sets. You would be lucky if you got 8 years. I was also told that if you do not turn on your set for a period of time, it is highly likely it may not come back on, as was my experience. I was gone 2 weeks and came back to a TV that would not even turn on anymore. I bought this TV to replace the Insignia. In this case, 80 bucks is a good insurance policy.
