Q: QuestionDo I need a hdmi 2.1 cable just to watch TV and Netflix from my phone? I would be Mirror screening. Would it be beneficial to run a hdmi 2.1 cable from my phone to the TV? I use Hotspot on my phone. No internet in my house except my phone.
Asked by Drew.
- A:Answer Hi Drew, For your specific scenario—watching TV and Netflix content mirrored from your phone using your phone's hotspot—an HDMI 2.1 cable is not required. HDMI 2.1 is primarily beneficial for high-end gaming consoles or PCs to achieve resolutions like $4K$ at $120$ frames per second, which is far beyond what standard TV streaming and screen mirroring from a phone provides. A high-quality HDMI 2.0 cable (used with a compatible USB-C or Lightning adapter, as most phones don't have a direct HDMI port) is more than sufficient to deliver the highest $4K$ resolution and picture quality that streaming services like Netflix offer today. The limiting factor in quality will be the resolution of your phone and the speed of your phone's hotspot connection, not the cable standard. Thanks for choosing Sony. Best regards, Eliab

Q: QuestionWhen the TV feels like it, the screen freezes, then after a short time it reboots. I understand this is a frequently reported issue. How can this be fixed? And when does my warranty expire? Roy
Asked by rls5000.
- A:Answer Hi Rls5000, Thanks for sharing your experience with us. We understand how concerning it must be when your TV screen freezes and reboots on its own. This is definitely not the experience we want you to have, and we'd like to walk you through some steps that can help resolve this. Here's what we recommend trying: 1. Go to Settings > Channels and Inputs > External Inputs > Bravia Sync Settings, and set the Bravia Sync Control to OFF. 2. Go to Settings > System > Samba Interactive TV, and turn Samba Interactive TV OFF. 3. Go to Settings > Network and Internet > Home Network > IP Control > Simple IP Control, and turn Simple IP Control ON. 4. Make sure your software is up to date by selecting Settings > System > About > System Software Update > Update your TV Software These steps should help prevent the issue from reoccurring. If the problem continues, or if you'd like to know details about your warranty and its expiration date, we suggest reaching out to our technical support team directly for personalized assistance. Q: QuestionWill this TV work in Europe?
Asked by JT.
- A:Answer Hi JT, While the 4K OLED picture quality is universal, a North American Sony TV isn't fully compatible with European broadcasting standards (DVB-T/S/C), meaning the built-in tuner won't work, but you always have broadcast over internet as an alternative. App compatibility can also vary by region, and while the TV typically supports 110-240V, you'll need a physical plug adapter for Europe. Thanks for considering Sony. -Eliab

Q: QuestionWill a different remote with numbers & favorites on this TV? it's part number is? No I do not want to use my Phone to control it. I have to turn off WiFi & Bluetooth for this TV to be safe for us to use. My prior Sony uses a IR signal remote.
Asked by SteveP.
- A:Answer Thanks for contacting Sony, SteveP! The BRAVIA 8 remote offers two modes of operation: Bluetooth and infrared. In Bluetooth mode, you can enjoy smart features such as Google Assistant. In contrast, the infrared mode allows for basic functions like turning the TV on and off, adjusting the volume, and muting. It's important to note that the TV can also work with a third-party infrared remote, as it can receive IR signals from both the original remote and compatible third-party options. Make sure to verify that the remote you choose is compatible with your Sony TV by checking with the remote's manufacturer. Please keep in mind that while third-party remotes may work, they might lack some features available on the original remote, or certain functions may not operate correctly due to compatibility issues. If you encounter any problems while using a universal remote, please refer to our troubleshooting guide here: https://www.sony.com/electronics/support/articles/00024615. Q: QuestionIs this a true tv mirror As it will be a legit mirror when it’s off? Once you turn it on it’s a tv!?
Asked by KDB0.
- A:Answer HI KDB0, The BRAVIA 8 TV is not designed to be a "true mirror TV" that functions as a literal mirror when off. When the TV is off, it will appear as a dark, reflective screen, similar to other OLED TVs, which can reflect the room to some extent. However, it's not engineered with specialized mirror technology to provide a perfect, distortion-free reflection like a dedicated mirror. Its primary function is to deliver stunning 4K OLED picture quality when turned on. Thanks for considering Sony. -Eliab
