  • Questionis this the xr 5580

    Asked by Anonymous.

  • Questiondoes it have a video input for WII?

    Asked by Jack.

    • Answer Hi Jack, Thank you for reaching out with your question! The Sony BRAVIA 8 does not have the traditional analog/RCA (red, white, and yellow) video inputs required to connect a Nintendo Wii directly. However, you can still easily play your Wii on this TV by using a standard adapter, such as a Wii to HDMI converter (often called a "Wii2HDMI"). These adapters plug directly into the back of your Wii console, allowing you to connect it to one of the BRAVIA 8's HDMI ports with a regular HDMI cable. We really appreciate your interest in Sony! • QuestionWhat causes my Sony 55" BRAVIA 8 OLED 4K Google TV screen to freeze while watching Dish Network. I have to unplug the tv to restart.

    Asked by UnhappyCustomer.

    • Answer Hi Digo, Thank you for reaching out to us. We are incredibly sorry to hear that your screen is freezing while watching Dish Network. This is definitely not the premium experience we want you to have with your new BRAVIA 8 OLED TV. To help resolve this and prevent the need to unplug your television, we recommend trying the following troubleshooting steps: 1- Disable BRAVIA Sync Control: Sometimes communication between external boxes and the TV can cause a glitch. On your remote, press the (Quick Settings) button, then select Settings > Channels & Inputs > External inputs > BRAVIA Sync settings > turn OFF BRAVIA Sync control. 2- Turn Off Samba Interactive TV: On your remote, press the (Quick Settings) button, then select Settings > System > Samba Interactive TV > turn OFF Samba Interactive TV. 3- Check for System Updates: Ensuring your TV has the latest firmware can fix known stability bugs. Go to Settings > System > About > System software update. 4- Enable Simple IP Control: This can stabilize network and device communication. Go to Settings > Network and internet > Home network > IP control > Simple IP control > turn ON. If the freezing continues after trying these steps, we highly encourage you to contact our technical support team so we can investigate this further for you: https://us.esupport.sony.com/support/s/support-contact?language=en_US&category=tv Thank you for choosing Sony! • Questionis a sound bar required for this item or are the speakers adequate

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Hi there, The Sony BRAVIA 8 features our advanced Acoustic Surface Audio+ technology, which uses actuators to turn the entire OLED panel into a high-quality speaker. This 50W system delivers clear dialogue and immersive sound that originates directly from the action on screen, making it more than adequate for everyday viewing without an external speaker. However, if you are looking for deep, cinematic bass or a true 360-degree surround sound experience, you may still want to consider adding a dedicated Sony soundbar. Thanks for choosing Sony. • QuestionIs it protected from power surges?

    Asked by Anonymous.

    • Answer Thank you for contacting Sony. While Sony televisions include built-in circuitry to help manage standard electrical fluctuations, our limited manufacturer warranty does not cover damage caused by power surges. We highly recommend checking with your retailer about extended protection plans that specifically include surge coverage for extra peace of mind. Additionally, using a high-quality surge protector is always a great way to help safeguard your new BRAVIA 8. We appreciate your interest in Sony products. • QuestionVideo camera camera RCA inputs are missing 😢

    Asked by MichaelB.

  • QuestionDo I need a hdmi 2.1 cable just to watch TV and Netflix from my phone? I would be Mirror screening. Would it be beneficial to run a hdmi 2.1 cable from my phone to the TV? I use Hotspot on my phone. No internet in my house except my phone.

    Asked by Drew.

    • Answer Hi Drew, For your specific scenario—watching TV and Netflix content mirrored from your phone using your phone's hotspot—an HDMI 2.1 cable is not required. HDMI 2.1 is primarily beneficial for high-end gaming consoles or PCs to achieve resolutions like $4K$ at $120$ frames per second, which is far beyond what standard TV streaming and screen mirroring from a phone provides. A high-quality HDMI 2.0 cable (used with a compatible USB-C or Lightning adapter, as most phones don't have a direct HDMI port) is more than sufficient to deliver the highest $4K$ resolution and picture quality that streaming services like Netflix offer today. The limiting factor in quality will be the resolution of your phone and the speed of your phone's hotspot connection, not the cable standard. Thanks for choosing Sony. Best regards, Eliab

  • QuestionWhen the TV feels like it, the screen freezes, then after a short time it reboots. I understand this is a frequently reported issue. How can this be fixed? And when does my warranty expire? Roy

    Asked by rls5000.

    • Answer The best way to deal with freezes and sudden reboots is (1) force stop and disable all apps that are not being used, (2) clear the cache and stored memory for all disabled apps, (3) hard reset the set by unplugging it for at least two minutes. If the freezes and reboots persist, factory reset the unit, and follow steps (1) and (2) above. Also make sure that the unit is running the latest firmware. If you are connecting any external HDMI devices, make sure they are not conflicting with the set’s internal features and settings (i.e. using a third-party soundbar with the set’s internal ‘center channel’ feature still enabled). If the problem still persists, you need to contact Sony customer service.
