A USB cable is connected to a USB plug at the rear of the Sony and is brought out to the front by the installer....you plug in you iPhone cable into it.......once you plug in your iPhone and the Sony is on the ApplePlay activates.....your phone charges and you are ready to use it. One thing to remember the ApplePlay does not show up on the Sony's screen until you unlock the security code on your iPhone. Hope this helps!
