The end result is totally reliant upon how the content is being transmitted to the TV. Upscaling does not mean "everything gets shown in 4k". The TV is incredibly capable of transmitting 4k if you are viewing a Netflix movie that is recorded and broadcasting in 4k, or if you are watching a 4k Blue Ray movie - then you know that you are watching true 4k. For everything else, the TV will upscale what is being shown to get the absolute best definition possible considering how the content is being transmitted - that does not mean it can turn every movie and show into a 4k experience but it will do a great job making it as visually stunning as it can be. Really old movies with very low definition can only "upscale" so far. 720 movies can upscale to 1080/ HD movies upscale beautifully on this TV but they still are not going to be incredible as those shows that are broadcasting in SUHD and 4k. There are more and more SUHD/ 4k TV shows and movies out there, they are labeled as such, but I have yet to find any cable channels broadcasting in 4k with an exception for some major sports programs. It's coming though.
