• it will allow 4k to play however it will be upscaling 1080 .if you see the section key specs # of hdmi 2.2 is 0.you need 2.2 input to work full 2160 (4k).

• Hi Rd, If your Blu-ray player or cable box output 4K resolution and connected to the HDMI input of the receiver, the receiver will be able to transmit the 4K signal to the connected 4K TV.
