A:AnswerAlthough my player is connected to W-Fi, I don't believe that Wi-Fi is involved in playing a CD or DVD.
I have the player connected to my TV via HDMI. Plays DVDs with no problem.
You can also play a CD thru the HDMI, although you are relying on the TVs speakers. I also connected the player to my audio system via a digital coax cable for much better sound.
A:AnswerI have an HDMI cable connecting the player to the TV. That is all that is needed for playing both audio and video from a DVD.
I also have a digital coax connecting the player to my audio system which I use for playing CDs. There is no optical out on the Sony player.
A:AnswerI would return it. Mine came in a damaged box, and I am wondering if it was repackaged. No bubble wrap, and only one piece of protective board to protect it inside.
A:AnswerI doubt it. Maybe not because it would not recognize the new Blu Ray disk movie that I purchased from Best Buy. It played other Blu Ray and DVD movies that I have.
A:AnswerThe WIFI works great. I went through settings, but can't remeber all of the steps. Sorry. The only thing I don't like about this machine. I called Sony & was told it was a multi region blu ray player, but it turns out that it isn't. So don't trust what the manufacturertells you.
