Hi Donny, you won't need to convert the AVCHD files to any other format to play them back on a Sony Blu-ray player. You can also set the camera to enable Dual Video REC to record in both AVCHD and MP4 at the same time. The MP4 format is more widely recognized in different playback software and devices.
