- Answer These speakers do require amplification of some sorts via a receiver, amplifier, etc. Just look for receiver/amplifier with a phono input to be compatible with your turntable. Enjoy!

Please take note that matching speakers and subwoofer with lower impedance (ohms) and watts than what the A/V receiver is rated may cause damage to the receiver and is not recommended. - Answer Well yes they can; how ever they are on the heavy side. And there is the ba'se to contend with I have six of them The picture on BB site is decieving ; they only show 'one' whereas the bookshelf ss5's I think are shown as pairs

- Answer Hi there, Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately, the SSCS5 speakers are not designed to be connected directly to a computer. The speakers must be connected to an amplifier or A/V receiver that supports 6-ohm speakers. Standard speakers wires are needed for connection (bare wire). -Ralph

- Answer That's my amp also...but i'm using these Sonys as 'back' speakers in a smaller room. The back port should only be an advantage for filling that large a space.
