You cannot, for some reason SONY took this feature out, which is as old as tape recorders. Pretty simple to do most people want to do it on the fly, that means talk play back and keep recording not have to spend hour on software merging files together. I am in the process of taking back the 370 right now because of this. and trying to find the older model like the ones you mentioned. i still cant believe they would do that.

Please try again later.I haven't had the need to use it yet, however if you open the Sound Organizer Program that you download to your computer from the recorder you can combine multiple files. If you haven't already downloaded the program just plug your device into your computer and load the program to your computer. The ability to combine files is under the edit menu.
