The Sony ICDSX712 Digital Voice Recorder has a stereo Microphone minijack where an Electret condenser Microphone like Sony ECM-CS10 or Sony ECM-TL1 can be connected. The built-in Microphones in the Sony Voice Recorder are also unidirectional. Their Angle can be changed manually. Both the Capsules of the built-in Microphone can be rotated towards the direction where the sound is to be recorded.
