I take a shot of some geese and while the camera takes it's own sweet time processing, the geese take off and are 50 yards down range before I can take another photo. I'm guessing the reason for this unneccisary delay is that the camera is using a small image sensor and then converting ALL OF THAT visual data that is suppose to eventually produce a 13 X 19 printed photo.
