    • Answer This lens is an FE lens, but it will also work on the E-mount A5100. Keep in mind it's a full frame lens, so with the A5100's APS-C sensor, it's effectively a 135mm (Read: zoomed in). It does produce really great images on an APS-C Sensor, good for upper body portraits.

    • Answer Yes it will work but does not have built-in image stabilization and it will be closer to 127.5mm not 85mm. APS-C(a6000) will multiply a full frame lens by roughly 1.5 so if you are for 85mm equivalent try a 50mm full frame lens.

    • Answer It should be great for indoor volleyball ball as long as you have the space to get the correct distance away from the players. Remember this is a fixed prime lens...no zoom so you need to use your feet to frame the players. Great bright lens so you can definitely get some nice action shots. I’m using it for indoor gymnastics shots and video and is working great.

  • QuestionI do mostly video and I know the 50mm f1.8 version’s autofocus is pretty clunky with my a7sii. Can I expect the same autofocus technology from this? (Debating going with Zeiss because of the “inner” autofocus.)

    • Answer I used it with the a6300 and autofocus was spot on. Pretty quick response had only a couple of hiccups but that may have been due to lighting. I only shot a few minutes of video and it performed well, didn’t have any issues. Just keep in mind the crop factor, as you may very well be aware of. Other than that, the lens of sharp and bokeh is great. My pictures turned out better than I expected in a poorly lit environment.

    • Answer I'm not certain you can put this lens on a APS-C camera/sensor seeing as it is a Full-frame lens. But if it's compatible, the APS-C sensor is typically has a 1.5 crop factor, so the 85mm focal length will act as a 85 x1.5 = 127mm lens

    • Answer Yes. It will work, auto focus and all the electronics will work. Since the a6300 has a crop sensor, you will be 1.5x zoomed in as will every other lens on a cropped sensor. To fully take advantage of this 85mm lens you will need a full frame camera such as the a7 series. This is a good purchase if you plan on upgrading to full frame one day.
